Children's Chapel
Involving acolytes, prayers, music, and a story by a clergy person, this may sound like a typical worship service, but it is anything but typical! Children’s Chapel worship service is offered to children first grade and younger each Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. in Whipple Chapel.
Together, children and clergy sit in a circle on the red rug in front of the altar and:
- Sing songs of praise
- Offer prayers of thanksgiving and hope
- Listen to a Gospel story by one of St. Mark’s clergy
And sometimes children react to the story… they may act, dance, draw, or discuss such questions as “Is Jesus real?” and “What is the Holy Spirit?” Parents are welcome to join this service, but we encourage you to leave your children in the care of the adults in charge. This will allow you to experience the entire worship service in the Cathedral while your children will join you at the time of the Peace.
