Housing

Congregations Building Community (CBC) is a coalition of Minneapolis churches and synagogues working with Habitat for Humanity to provide affordable housing in the city. Saint Mark's is one of 15 congregations represented in CBC and working with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity to engage parishioners in building affordable, safe housing in Minneapolis.

Upcoming Build Dates
New build dates are always being added. We need builders and folks to bring food for the building crew. If you're interested in signing up or just have questions, contact Lynn Gilligan at 612-331-4866.

Hunger

Hunger ministries at Saint Mark's consist of both reaching out to the community and welcoming the community in. If you would like to volunteer for one of our hunger ministries, please contact Canon Richard Norman.

We serve a meal to between 220 - 300 needy folk every second Sunday of the month. Volunteers can choose when to help, as it is an all day ministry. The biggest group comes at 4:30 p.m. and gathers in preparation to serve the meal to our guests. They finish around 6:30 p.m.

We serve a meal to about 100 needy youth every Monday (except major holidays). Some gather at 3:00 p.m. to prepare and others come when they can. The meal is served at 6:00 p.m.

We make lunches for our Warm Space guests and drop-in guests at Episcopal Community Services on Monday mornings from 9:30-11am.   Because foot traffic tends to be down during the cold winters, the lunch bag ministry does not meet every Monday during the winter.

WarmSpace

On Thursdays, we open Holy Grounds, our former coffee shop area from noon – 4pm for a hot soup lunch a  place to rest.  Guests are offered a bag lunch as well to take on their way.  Volunteers are scheduled to work a 2 or 4 hour shift and are trained to know about local social service resources.

Covenant

In partnership with Episcopal Community Services, St. Mark’s supports four low-income families a year in their efforts to improve their lives.  St. Mark’s supports weekly caseworker services and provides mentors to the families.  The broader St. Mark’s community also supports these families through the Christmas Giving Tree program.
