Children's Programs at Saint Mark's

Children are loved and valued at St. Mark’s, and we have multiple ways that they can become involved. Our hope is that our children will see Saint Mark’s as a home and family that know, love, and support them.

Sunday Mornings

Children in Worship

Children are always welcome in worship. We welcome their sounds and their movements, and the energy they bring! With the light flowing through the stained glass windows, the sounds of the choirs and organ, the touch of a neighbour during the Peace, the taste of the bread and the wine, the worship experience with entice and engage each of the senses! There are worship bags available at each entrance of the nave with activities connected to the Sunday's readings. The worship bulletin may be used for drawings, perhaps drawings that represent a portion of the service. With opportunities that include acolytes, choir, readers, and ushers, children are encouraged to get involved and to be a part of the service.

Nursery

For those youngest among us, we offer a nursery during the services and education hour from 8:30am-12:15 pm. Our nursery is staffed with trained caregivers who offer a safe, caring and welcoming environment for children 3 and younger, and for children up to age 7 during the 11:00 am service. Our nursery is located on the second floor in the education wing.

Sunday School Program

Spark!

Spark: a Sunday school curriculum that will support our focus of “Growing a Community of Disciples.”

Children_-_community_of_believers_graphic

Spark! Bible-centered, it encourages kids to open the Scriptures and explore God’s Word through a variety of
age-appropriate activities designed to accommodate all of the different ways children learn.

Spark: continues the rotation-style curriculum that allows many different leaders to support our Sunday school
programs with their many different talents.

Spark: allows pre-school topics to reflect the topics of the older kids.  (We all will experience the same story,
           in age-appropriate settings.)

Spark: Family letters to continue sharing the spark at home!

Spark the imagination; spark the Holy with bible stories, art, squiggles, singing, talking, wondering,
          and exploring.

Spark: for Sunday School,  Pre-school through 5th Grade.

Sunday school begins September 18th!

Children’s Choirs

Music is an integral part of our worship at Saint Mark’s, and a desire to provide an experience of our rich musical tradition to our youth is central to our music ministry program.  Children as young as 4 years old are welcomed into a choir, and our choirs are designed to be fun while giving children a chance to develop their musical skills.
